Introduction to Bentonite
_
Bentonite is a type of natural clay primarily composed of the mineral montmorillonite, known for its high water absorption capacity and exceptional swelling properties. This material has the ability to absorb metal ions and, due to its high adhesiveness and gel-forming capability, is widely used in various industries as a stabilizing, purifying, and lubricating agent. Bentonite is classified into two main types: sodium bentonite and calcium bentonite, each with distinct characteristics, and is selected based on the specific industrial application.

Drilling Industry: Used to stabilize well walls and reduce friction in drilling mud.

Foundry Industry: Used as a binder to strengthen sand molds in metal casting.

Animal Feed Industry: improves digestion in livestock and absorbs toxins in feed.

Water and Wastewater Treatment Industry: Absorbs pollutants and heavy metals, facilitating water purification.
